Standing out in one of the deepest talent pools in the country
Los Angeles County and the surrounding area are home to a deep pool of high school and club athletes across every sport. College coaches know it, and they see a lot of LA talent. That makes visibility harder, not easier: your athlete has to stand out from many other good players, and generic emails and highlight reels get lost.
What separates the athletes who get recruited is usually fit and credibility: the right level, the right schools, and someone a coach trusts saying, "You should look at this kid."
Who's guiding your athlete
The Athlete Market is led by Chase Grant, a former Division I player who spent six years as the recruiting coordinator at Palomar College and has coached in the San Diego area for many years. He's also a college professor, and he has built a network of current and former college coaches and mentors who take his call.
Chase is San Diego-based and has coached in Southern California for years. Six years running recruiting at a California community college means he has evaluated California athletes from the coach's side of the desk. LA-area families work with us by phone and video, with in-person meetings when it makes sense.
Sports and levels we cover
We help Los Angeles-area families in baseball, softball, football, men's and women's soccer, men's and women's lacrosse, and men's and women's basketball, at every level: Division I, Division II, Division III, NAIA and junior college. Many of the best fits aren't the most famous names, and a strong student with an open mind about location usually has more options than they realize. Our D2, D3 and NAIA guide is a good place to start.

The offer
Our price is published and the same in every sport: $6,000 total per family. You pay $3,000 upfront, and the other $3,000 only when your athlete signs with a school or earns a college roster spot. If your athlete doesn't get a college roster spot, you get your money back. If your athlete suffers a career-ending injury, you get your money back. We walk through the full terms on your free call.
We carry real risk alongside you. That's how we keep ourselves honest about which athletes we take on.
Common mistakes we see from big-market families
- Assuming exposure will come automatically. Playing in a competitive area helps, but coaches still need a reason to look closely at your athlete.
- Only targeting famous programs. Some of the best fits for playing time, academics and aid are schools families have never heard of.
- Too many events, not enough strategy. More tournaments isn't the same as more recruiting.
- Waiting for the club or high school coach to handle it. Those coaches can help a lot, but they're often stretched across many players.
Fixing these usually starts with one honest conversation about where your athlete fits and which programs need them. From there, the plan gets specific: which coaches to contact first, what video to send them, which events are worth the drive, and how to follow up without wearing out a coach's patience. Los Angeles families have more options than almost anyone in the country. The goal is to turn those options into real conversations with programs that want your athlete.

What families say
“We did not really know the landscape of how to play at the next level, and we finally found the blueprint of someone who cares and gave us that info in a genuine way.”
“This was super beneficial for my son as he really developed over the course of his high school career and received a d2 scholarship. I do not know where he would be without the guidance and expertise of a real college coach and former pro player.”
“Chase single handedly helped my son get into college. He wasn't the biggest or fastest kid, but with his guidance and network it made a huge difference and opened up an opportunity that might not have been there.”
Frequently asked questions
Do you work with families in Los Angeles?
Yes. We're based in San Diego and work with Los Angeles-area families by phone and video, with in-person meetings when it makes sense.
Which sports do you help LA athletes with?
Baseball, softball, football, men's and women's soccer, men's and women's lacrosse, and men's and women's basketball.
My athlete plays in a very competitive area. Does that help or hurt?
Both. Competitive play prepares athletes well, but coaches see many good players from the area, so standing out takes a clear plan, good video and credible introductions.
How much does your recruiting help cost?
$6,000 total per family: $3,000 upfront and $3,000 only when your athlete signs with a school or earns a college roster spot, with money back if there's no roster spot or after a career-ending injury.
Do you help athletes go out of state?
Yes. We build lists based on your athlete's goals, in California and across the country.
Who will we work with?
Chase Grant directly: a former Division I player, six-year recruiting coordinator at Palomar College and long-time Southern California coach.
Is it too late if my athlete is a senior?
Usually not. Many Division II, Division III, NAIA and junior college programs fill rosters late. See our guide for uncommitted seniors.
